Still Unstoppable: Why Micro Focus is backing GSE UK

The Guide Share Europe (GSE) UK conference from 2 November – 11 November 2021 will, once again, be online for 2021. Micro Focus is still signing up to support, says Derek Britton.

Guide Share Europe (GSE) is an international, non-profit association of companies, organizations and individuals involved in technology using IBM architectures. Completely independent, led and staffed by dedicated volunteers, GSE UK is here to Guide, Share and Engage.

Naturally, as a company with our own technological investments in IBM and mainframe architectures, Micro Focus recognises a platform for kindred spirits to ‘meet’ and put the IBM and mainframe worlds to rights.

Forced to pivot to the online model last year the 2020 GSE UK online conference, Virtually Unstoppable drew more than 1,200 virtual attendees and 11,500 session attendances from 37 countries.

That’s no surprise

We recognise GSE UK as a vibrant, active part of the mainframe community, and as proud members of the same ecosystem, Micro Focus is happy to attend and contribute to GSE as a long-time supporter.

Frequent attendees, we have contributed to many-close-to-home discussion topics including access, security, DevOps, IT skills, application testing and the peerless value of COBOL as in the last couple of years alone.

Part of the puzzle

These events are a major part of IT success. Best practice comes from learning from experience and sharing those lessons with other groups within the community. GSE events are where novices become experts, get the need-to-know on new hot topics such as security and COBOL modernization, and refresh knowledge of trusted approaches.

Get involved

GSE helps both planners and practitioners, explaining issues in detail while clarifying the context for those needing the bigger picture. It is a must-attend event for any self-respecting mainframer.

We’ll see you there.
