What is GSE in the UK Region?

The Regions of GSE are, as the name implies, geographically defined, and relatively small, most encompassing single European countries. Our region is called the UK Region, and covers the UK, Eire and some Middle Eastern countries.

There are around 205 companies and organizations active within GSE in the UK, with some 2000 managers and other technical, professional staff regularly attending Working Group meetings and other GSE events.

The UK Region has upwards of 21 Region Working Groups (WG) each with its own Steering Committee elected by the WG's own members. Each WG consists of representatives from anywhere within the UK Region and it's supported countries.

The GSE UK Steering Committee is responsible for the Regional Conference programme. Ideas for the major part of each Conference agenda are developed where possible from suggestions given by participants at the previous Conference. Topics may also be received from WGs, or may be triggered by announcements from IBM and other vendors. The conferences are usually held at IBM's Bedfont Lakes location near London Heathrow airport. The Region Conferences generally have two parallel sessions from which the participants can select, thus achieving the best possible value from a delegate's time.

"Give and Take" is the main slogan of GSE, and means that the more participants contribute with their own presentations, and the more they are active in discussions, then the more they gain from the GSE WG meetings and Conferences.

Members in GSE can participate in activities at the Regional or European level, or both!

On the following pages each of the UK Region Working Groups are presented with their objectives and major activities.

Think Global - Act Local.
