GSE – Enterprise Security Working Group

Minutes for meeting held on 6th July at Cresta Court Hotel, Manchester

The meeting was opened by Chairman David McRoberts at 9:40 am

Introduction

David gave a brief run through of the sessions coming up during the day.  Mention was made to the presentations being made available on the GSE website.  Note: Rob Vanhoboken’s presentation from Lincoln is not on the website but is available on request.

David gave some advance information on what to expect at the October Conference in Stratford upon Avon.  The theme will be Securing On-demand.  Highlights will include a live video link with Poughkeepsie with Mark Nelson and also Wai Choi.

What’s New?

Keith Girst (Beta) – Deutsche Bank / IBM Global Services / Beta – transaction pricing model.  Re-charging of services.

Graham Tapper (CA) – Security enhancement with (1) Netegrity acquisition (2) Tiny software (firewall) Easy Armour was ZoneAlarm and in time will become Tiny as products are incorporated into CA products.

Keith George (IBM) – now reselling Vanguard products Enforcer, Administrator, Security Centre

Mike McNamee (e3sciences) – PassGen for Java uses RACF Passtickets.  New pure java version executes under J2SE 1.4 or later. Supplement Palm OS and Windows environments.

Steve Morland (Software Europe) – Consul Insight Security Manager.  Event logs from platforms.  Recently acquired Netmon2 company.  Becoming a major player with Symantec.
