Abstract:

Part 4 - z/OS System Logger - Understanding, Measuring, and Tuning The z/OS System Logger provides for single system or multi-system logging. Exploiters of the System Logger no longer have the responsibility to maintain logging functions. Instead the System Logger does it for them. Exploiters of System Logger include Operlog, Syslog, subsystems such as CICS for recovery, and now even SMF data can be maintained by the System Logger. During this presentation, Peter Enrico will provide an introduction to the System Logger, its components, and how it is used by its exploiters. Peter will introduce how to measure, monitor, and tune the System Logger for optimal performance. (Parts 1 & 2 in this series are being presented on the BMC day - Mon Oct 27th)

Peter Enrico has strong and diverse experience with the IBM zArchitecture platforms, and a solid background in z/OS, Workload Manager, Parallel Sysplex, UNIX System Services, and WebSphere e-business performance. Peter also has extensive experience measuring, analyzing, and tuning z/OS systems, Sysplexes, and subsystems. Peter's abilities extend beyond just performance. He is considered a highly qualified and effective communicator and seminar instructor. Peter regularly teaches z/OS performance classes and as a member of Enterprise Performance Strategies, Inc., he works as a performance consultant for companies interested in optimizing their performance z/OS systems.
