Abstract:

This presentation aims to illustrate how someone new to the Mainframe can over a period time given the right training and experience pass the BCS MTP Level 1 exam. Drawing upon my own experiences in developing a z/OS Fundamentals skill roadmap within the IBM Hursley M&D Laboratory, we will discuss the various learning activities that can be deployed to help Mainframe novices become more capable on the platform.

Mark Bunday is a Manager who has worked for IBM for 19 years. Mark has held a number of technical and non-technical roles within IBM and is currently on secondment to the Human Resources team. Mark is responsible for growing a Mainframe skills pipeline within the UK, SWG M&D Development & Services Laboratory based at Hursley Park near Winchester in the UK.
