Abstract:

System z connects to I/O gear via external connections called channels and control units. Forty years ago, these were separate boxes, each the size of a refrigerator. Today, they are elements of the Processor Complex and the Storage Subsystems. This session will discuss the basics of storage attachment, how storage works and the current state of disk and tape for the System z platform
