Abstract:

There has been several headline news stories about major breaches of credit card processing systems which have resulted in several million card numbers and associated information being leaked. This talk will present an overview of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) which has been established by the card brands to provide a secure environment for the processing of payments via debit and credit cards. Gavin is a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and is authorised by the PCI Council to perform assessments of clients' card processing environments to ensure that they are compliant with the standard. The talk will include real life assessment experience and will also present the latest thinking in the securing of processing card payments.

Gavin Weir, QSA, CISSP is a Principal Security Consultant with IBM Internet Security Systems. Prior to the acquisition by IBM, Gavin spent 7 years with Internet Security Systems as a security consultant in the X-force Professional Services unit working on Intrusion Prevention and Vulnerability Scanning solutions.
