"Be Recognized"
Session Speaker: Frank Backer (Fitz Software & Co)Session Chairman: Derek StorkeyWhen: Tuesday 28th October @ 15:30Where: Kenilworth 1 |

The correct tuning of memory, especially of Bufferpools, is essential for high performance of DB2 subsystems and groups. Are your systems optimally tuned and configured? Not an easy question to honestly answer. It's down to that continual cycle of "measurement - analysis - evaluation - correction - measurement - analysis -- ...." where you must work to get it right! This practical oriented workshop for DB2 system programmers and DBAs will communicate methods and everyday life tips provided by a DB2 expert. The presentation will involve the standard tools TRACE/RMF, SORT output, LOAD into DB2 tables, analysis using SQL and follow up with use of the more relevant features in standard monitors from IBM and ISVs. It will also deal with the utilization of dedicated Bufferpool tools to complete analysis, evaluation, simulation and optimisation. Learn how Bufferpools can be checked and optimised with a structured maintainable effort.
Frank Backer is a recognized authority and specialist on Bufferpool Tuning and has consulted at some of the largest DB2 sites across Europe. He has worked for IBM Lab Böblingen in Germany (Development of DB2 Performance Monitors) and IBM France (Montpellier Benchmark Centre).
