Abstract:

This presentation will provide an overview of the optimization enhancements delivered in DB2 9 for z/OS, and a deep-dive into "why you care?" about these enhancements. Recent additions since DB2 9 GA will also be included. GA enhancements include (1) Global optimization, (2) Generalized sparse index, (3) Index on expression, (4) Dynamic Index ANDing, (5) Autonomic Reoptimization, (6) Histogram statistics, and (7) Optimization Service Center.
