Session Speaker: Andrew Hickling (Rabobank)

Session Chairman: Phil Grainger (Indep)

When: Wednesday 4th November @ 10:45

Where: Cataluna

Abstract:

In 2003, Rabobank embarked on a bold plan to replace custom-built CRM packages with Siebel based on DB2 z/OS. Six years on we see how the platform has grown, both in customer and upstream/downstream interfaces, to provide the bank with key advantages in terms of time to market with new products, as well as enhanced customer experience. Siebel is arguably the most complex and difficult dynamic SQL environment working on DB2 z/OS. In this presentation we show how it is possible to control this beast and provide a stable, scaleable and cost effective solution. The success of Siebel on DB2 z/OS has meant that the platform has increased it's importance within the banking group and fought off other platforms to be more strategic to the bank than it was six years ago.

Andrew Hickling has worked on DB2 z/OS since release 1.2 and has worked for IBM since 1996. He has worked extensively with customers, concentrating mainly on large retail Banking environments. Andrew is the chief DB2 architect for Rabo bank and has worked on the Siebel implementation from the inception of the project. He started at Rabo in 2003, working on the pilot and initial data load of data from legacy systems into the Siebel databases. Subsequently he has worked extensively on performance and availability of the platform, as well as architecture design for the application.
