Abstract:

IMS is a transaction and database manager for z/OS. IMS was first released in 1968 and has continued to evolve ever since. This session is an overview of IMS for people who are familiar with computing, but not necessarily z/OS.

Andrew Wilkinson joined IBM fresh-faced from university and has so far failed to escape. He has worked with IMS since 1981 in a variety of roles including Application Programmer (PL/1), Systems Programmer and Database Administrator, mainly for IBM's own business applications. Andrew now helps IBM's customers with IMS and IMS tools.
