Abstract:

The IBM Rational Developer for System z (RDz) provides an integrated graphical workstation platform which can be used for developing and extending IMS applications. In this session you will learn how RDz is used as an integral part of a modern application development environment for the traditional development and testing of IMS TM and DB applications, and how RDz Tooling enables the quick and easy extension of existing IMS applications to be deployed as Web based applications or Web Services.

Niel has over 20 years experience in the IBM System z mainframe, working both as an IBM customer and within IBM. His experience with System z and mainframe computing spans large systems serving across the banking, insurance and commercial sectors, ranging from application design and delivery through to system architecture and exploitation for many of the largest corporations in the United Kingdom and Europe. Niel is currently the European technical lead for delivering new application development tooling to the System z platform.
