This session will introduce the IBM On-line Transaction Processor (OLTP) called CICS. After a brief discussion on what the product is and who uses it, this presentation will cover Conversational versus Pseudo conversation programming, what are the application services available to programmers and the connectivity options. Included will be a description of the resources definitions required and the CICS built-in transactions provided to assist in the task. Finally, a brief discussion on Web access to / from CICS and CICS Web Services will be covered.
Mike worked at IBM Hursley Lab for 37 years in CICS and WMQ development and technical marketing. He was responsible for CICS / WMQ technical briefings at IBM Roadshows, and Worldwide Usergroups including US SHARE and GSE. He has managed Early introduction programmes, Customer Councils, and Hursley briefing programme. He is the author of "IBM zJournal CICS Performance Report" and "Business Integration with SOA". He is currently an IBM Hursley Business Partner, and consulting in the US.
