Welcome to the website for the 2009 GSE UK Conference. This is where you will find all the information you need to find out what's happening at this year's conference.

You may have noticed that GSE is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. We are marking this event by offering free places to the conference for GSE UK members. This is being funded largely by our sponsors and vendors but some is from a small surplus from previous years' conferences. However, there are some terms and conditions attached to this offer which you will find at the end of the registration information page. Please be sure to read them.

In case you need some assistance in justifying your attendance to the conference and the associated travel expenses we have put together a draft justification letter. In these times of financial cutbacks we hope this will help put a sound business case to your management for attending the conference.

We have a slightly smaller conference this year. Last year we found that some of the streams were not well attended and therefore we are concentrating on those that were most popular.

GSE's objective throughout the UK and Europe, at the working groups and at our conferences is one of:

GIVE:

  • Guidance - The ability to share knowledge between our members and between vendors and members to assist in the implementation and operation of IT solutions.
  • Information - The ability to influence the suppliers of products, solutions and services being offered to our members and to ensure that vendors and other IT related bodies act in the best interests of our members.
  • Vision - The ability to help our members understand and contribute to the way the IT industry develops.
  • Education - The ability for our members to access high quality technical and management information from a variety of sources, including IT vendors, other members and educational bodies.

and TAKE:

  • Technology - The ability to contact members and vendors and discuss the possibilities of the proposed technologies and the way to implement them.
  • Advantage - The advantage to take back home extra information to optimise your technology, to learn about new experiences and by implementing the advantages have impact on your TCO price.
  • Knowledge - The opportunity to exploit the combined knowledge of member companies and IBM research to ensure maximum business value
  • Experience - The opportunity to exchange experiences, ideas and business values with other members and be able to implement this new knowledge, technology in your own environment.

I trust that you will find the conference and the agenda meets these objectives and that you will join us in November at Whittlebury Hall to z/oom into the 6th Decade of GSE GIVE and TAKE.
