“Virtualisation” has been the amongst the most popular buzzwords in the industry for the last four or five years. The mainframers amongst us, of course, have been familiar with the concept and the practicailty for two decades, but now, at last, the midrange and distributed plaftorms as well as the storage vendors have started to deliver real virtualisation technology. This is starting to change the IT landscape and there is every expectation that this trend will gather pace in the coming year. GSE, as an independent association of companies run by its members for its members and with its close relationship to IBM and its partners is in a unique position to provide quality, unbiased technical and management information to help its members understand and integrate these changes.

It is therefore my great pleasure, on behalf of the UK region of GSE, to invite you to participate in the GSE UK Conference 2007, organised by the GSE working groups. The GSE Conference offers an outstanding opportunity to obtain a significant amount of information in only two days of your time. We have gathered together a multitude of presentations in no less than ten streams under the title Virtually Yourz, focusing on Virtualisation across our streams and in our opening keynote session by IBM’s Mark Anzani, Vice President IBM System z Hardware Products.

Alongside the conference streams we will once again be running three half day workshops and also our usual exhibition which will give you the opportunity to discuss your specific problems and requirements with our sponsors and exhibitors.

I hope you will agree that we have put together an interesting and varied agenda across a wide range of topics and that it offers excellent value for money when compared with formal education. I look forward to welcoming you to Kenilworth in October.
