Complex applications involve multiple platforms, multiple runtimes, multiple development technologies, multiple languages, and complex application architectures. The Rational Developer for System z family of products delivers an end-to-end development environment for Java Enterprise Edition, CICS, IMS, DB2, and other runtimes which can run on multiple platforms including System z. Rational Developer for System z is a one-stop shop for developing, debugging, and testing heterogeneous applications on any platform which interacts with the mainframe. Enterprise Generation Language, and its application transformation capability, will also be covered.
Russell has twenty-six years in the IT industry, working on mainframe systems for most of that time. He has been a systems programmer, a technical manager and worked for an independent software vendor. After joining IBM in 2000, Russell specialised in the WebSphere software portfolio on the System z platform, providing technical skills in the WebSphere Foundation products, CICS, and WebSphere Integration solutions to IBM's clients. Since 2006, he has been part of the Rational Enterprise Modernisation technical team within IBM Software Group, working with clients to help them gain value from all aspects of the IBM Rational Software Development Platform, with a special focus on mainframe development tools.
