Melvyn Maltz...a brief CV

Employment
1963 Training course in IBM 1401 Autocoder.
Wrote first Autocoder program aged 15.
1964-68 Employed as an Autocoder programmer (now aged 16) to modify Lloyds Insurance programs.
Later learnt 360/20 Assembler in a day and transferred the old to the new.
1968-73 Worked in the construction industry as a 360/20 programmer.
Still can't believe that I wrote a payroll which paid 10,000 labourers weekly. Punch cards and a massive 8K of storage.
1973-87 Employed by 3M(UK) as a Systems Programmer.
From 1975, as a CICS Systems Programmer
1987-98 Employed by Marks & Spencer as a Senior Systems Programmer.
CICS and VTAM support
1998 Early retirement.
2005 Teamed up with Don Higgins (of PC/370 fame) to redevelop and enhance the original. Now called z390.

Extra-curricular
Regular contributor to CICS GUIDE. Wrote articles on CICS for Xephon's "CICS Update" magazine. Got commissions from Xephon to do commentaries for their surveys.

Got commissions from IBM to help with surveys on stuff like Macro to Command Level conversion.

Around 1985 founded VTAM GUIDE, which now operates as Networks GSE.

Around 1994 the world was waking up to a problem in 2000. Joined the technical group of IBM CUA and gave many lectures on the solutions to the Millennium Bug problem.
Thanks to me (and one or two others) the world didn't end.

In 2008 and 2009, Don and I have lectured on z390 at SHARE (USA).
