The presentation will address the increasingly complex DR Technologies and complementary high availability technologies (Gone are the days of FV dumps as a standalone DR strategy). Other issues discussed include the increasingly expensive infrastructure to support DR Technologies, a desire to decrease or eliminate a dependence on tape as a recovery medium and how to deal with the reality of diminishing mainframe expertise.
Techniques and tools to deal with the aforementioned issues include getting the maximum value from replication technologies, the identification of critical data, matching hardware infrastructure to your company's need and capturing the years of experience, expertise, best practices and expert knowledge gained over the last 40 years.
Bruce Fisher is Director of International Sales & Marketing for Opentech Systems. He has extensive experience in the development, marketing and sale of backup & recovery products for IBM mainframes, mid-range servers and Open Systems platforms. A frequent speaker at industry events, Bruce's presentation incorporates experiences, expertise and best practices gained from over 30 years in the industry. He has spoken on the subject of backup & recovery technology and related issues including DR, data availability, compliance and data security at a number of industry and corporate events.
