Software Asset Management is not just about the Software itself, it is about the Vendor relationship, Vendor support, software functionality, Application performance, Software pricing, in-house support costs and other associated assets (Personnel, CPU, Storage, Code and Data) required to run the software. In this presentation Steve will provide an insight into the World of SAM as it is viewed by a Consultant providing services to migrate Applications that use the "Language of SAS" from one Vendor to another. Steve started working in the late 70's as a Statistical Researcher and Sysprog - doing "dangerous things with cement". In the early 80's Steve's career took him into the Banking Industry where he continued his role as a Sysprog and also enjoyed Application Development, Performance and Capacity Planning - doing "dangerous things with money". In the early 90's Steve founded ITMetrics which has provided Resource Management solutions and services to many Companies Worldwide. Much of Steve's consulting has been associated with the z/OS and PC platforms and has utilised many different technologies, including MXG(tm), MICS(tm) and SAS(tm) software. About five years ago, Steve had a chance meeting with some guy from World Programming during which they discussed some new software called WPS(tm).
