Abstract:

Introduction to Mainframe Network Architecture This session provides an overview of the networking hardware and software solutions available on today's System z mainframes. Starting with a brief history of networking, the session then covers traditional SNA, APPN, TCPIP, integration of SNA & TCPIP, networking hardware (OSAs), commonly used TCPIP applications, Virtual IP addressing (VIPAs) and TCPIP exploitation within a Sysplex.

Mike Duffy is a Senior Instructor with IBM Training covering z/OS Networking and many other aspects of System z and z/OS. He has well over 25 years experience in large systems starting as an IBM hardware engineer in the s/360 s/370 days.
