Session Speaker: Roger Fowler (IBM)Session Chairman: Mark Wilson (RSM Partners)When: Thursday 5th November @ 11:45Where: Monza |

In addition to being a much faster processor than its predecessor, the IBM System z10 processor adds significant additional value in other dimensions. The latest releases of z/OS unlock much of this value. In this session, the speaker covers several of the new capabilities delivered by the z10 which are enabled by z/OS releases R10 and R11. These include: Automatic Standalone Dump and re-IPL, HiperDispatch, Large Page Support, Data Prefetch and Hardware Instrumentation.
Roger Fowler is a Consulting IT Specialist with the Systems and Technology Group in IBM United Kingdom Ltd. He is responsible for technical leadership of z/OS and Parallel Sysplex, and pre-sales System z technical support. Roger is also the IBM liaison for the whole of GSE in the UK and for the Large Systems Working Group in particular. He is a graduate from Loughborough University with an honours degree in Computer Science. Prior to joining IBM in 1988, Roger worked in large systems technical support for two large energy corporations and a financial institution. He has over twenty seven years of mainframe experience and began work in the early 1980s writing assembler programs for MVS/370 on a System/370 Model 158 (generally rated at roughly 1 MIPS). The programs still work.
