During 2007 it is expected that there will be a new release of CICS Transaction Server. This product will incorporate CICSPlex/SM, IBM's strategic system management software for CICS installations. One of the major features of any new release of CICSPlex/SM will be the removal of the End User Interface (EUI), and it's natural successor, the Web User Interface (WUI). This session will highlight the new features that are included with this release.
I have worked directly with CICS in one form or another for the past thirty years - my first contact was as a CICS 1.2 operator for a large financial institution. From there I moved into Applications Development for a couple of large IBM customers, before I crawled under the wire at IBM Hursley in 1982, to break into CICS development itself. During the last ten years I have been a CICSPlex SM developer, with a brief eighteen month sojourn into the OMEGAMON development team when that product was first brought inside IBM. I tend to be involved in most areas of CICSplex SM technical development - with the exception of the CPSM Web User Interface. Normally I write the code that underpins the WUI and CICSPlex SM API functions, although I have written a couple of IBM SupportPacs that exploit those interfaces. CICSPlex SM is a fantastic Systems Management tool, and after 15 years of availability it is still continuing to evolve. I plan to remain a driving force in that evolution.
